About Xmail Hard Drive.com

XmailHardDrive.com was originally GmailHardDrive.com which was started in the end of May 2005.  The concept of using your Gmail account as a hard drive was not a new concept when the website was created, however the method in which it works was relatively new.  Most of the third party applications were programs that you had to install to be able to get access to your Gmail account by entering your username and password.  Unfortunately the MAC and Linux users couldn't use that software.

Finally We stumbled upon some open source code that was designed by Howard Yeend.  This free code had the beginnings of turning your Gmail account into a hard drive, but it lacked a GUI and other features that we've created. So we used the code and modified it and created the website that thousands of people use every day!  In just the first month we had over 10,000 individual people use our web based software.  The second month our users spiked to over 25,000 individual users!  Now the users double and triple all the time.

The best part about our website is that it is free to the user.  We figured that since Gmail is a free e-mail service then our software must be free to the user also.

How does XmailHardDrive.com work? XmailHardDrive.com directly connects with your Gmail account to then turn it into a portable virtual hard drive that you can access from anywhere in the world.  You simply enter your Gmail username and password, just like the other third party software, and then using the username and password combination it authenticates with the Gmail servers and connects you to your personal account.  Therefore allowing the user to be able to upload files to their Gmail account. Next when the user uploads a file, the file is uploaded as an e-mail attachment in their Gmail inbox, this file however is encrypted and compressed which enables the user to store more files since it is compressed.  The file is then saved as an .xmhd file which can be decompressed and re-downloaded through XmailHardDrive.com.  And now with the FlingIt feature the user can send the file they just uploaded to a friend that has a Gmail account.  Currently the max file upload size is 20mb however as we gain more sponsors we will remove the upload limit, and you'll be able to upload much much larger files!

XmailHardDrive.com is the leading website that offers it's application free of charge for anyone in world to be able to use their Gmail account as a portable hard drive. XmailHardDrive.com is not responsible for anything that the user decides to upload.  XmailHardDrive.com is also in a Beta stage therefore is also not responsbile if any files are lost or unretrievable because our software occasionally has bugs and errors.  If you do find an error or bug please contact us immediately using the e-mail address on our contact page.

XmailHardDrive.com is a subsidiary company of Mind Embryo Productions Inc. which is a company that offers professional web design, web hosting, and advertising solutions.
